Changing Lives though Proven Programs
Founded in 1977, Porter County PACT was one of seven, federally-sponsored, community service restitution pilot programs in the nation. The program created the first comprehensive day reporting center in Indiana and currently offers twelve programs and services for male and female, adult and juvenile victims and offenders.
Community Service Restitution (CSR): Offenders are ordered by the court to perform a specified number of community service hours at one of the local, nonprofit governmental agencies.
Day Reporting Center (DRC): The DRC program offers assessment, case management, cognitive-behavioral classrooms services, drug testing and referral to appropriate treatment. The goal of the DRC is to reduce crime through reducing offender risk. The DRC uses the basics of correctional practice by pointing out crime factors and assisting them with risk reducing interventions.
Porter County Alcohol & Other Drug Court Services Program: The drug court services component is an enhancement of the DRC. This component is certified through the Indiana Judicial Center. Drug court clients participate in the same services offered through the DRC; however, they also attend court sessions as required by the drug court team. The drug court component relies on a consensus-driven team approach as it addresses issues that impact the wellbeing of its clients and the community.Interagency Agreement Form
Community Transition Program (CTP): PACT operates this component as a cooperative with the Porter County Adult Probation Department. Upon entry into the program, PACT staff begins the process of offender risk reduction by pointing out the individual’s risk and crime producing need, case planning, and participation in the recommended services.
Stop Abuse and Violence Through Education (SAVE): This program is designed for men charged with domestic battery and other offenses involving domestic violence. The offender must participate in class weekly, completing each of the curriculum’s thirteen batterer’s intervention themes. This program is operated in conjunction with the local women’s shelter, which provides monitoring of the group process.
Constructive Anger Learning Methods (CALM): This program provides twelve weeks of cognitive-behavioral programming that challenges participants’ antisocial attitudes and beliefs through group process including modeling of appropriate behaviors, role play activities for guided practice, and real-life application/practice through homework activities.
Porter County Alcohol & Drug Offender Services (PCADOS): PCADOS is certified through the Indiana Judicial Center to provide alcohol and drug services for court-ordered referrals. PCADOS offers assessment; case management; one-day informational, basic education and advanced education classes; transfers to other programs; and referral to treatment
Victim Impact Panel (VIP): A panel consisting of victims who have been injured by a drunk driver or friends and family members of someone injured or killed by a drunk driver speaks about the impact of the accident on his/her life. The panel’s audience is offenders convicted of alcohol-related offenses. The purpose is to deter offenders from drinking and driving.
Project Prevent Re-Occurring Offenses (Project PRO): Project PRO is a sex offender program designed to reduce reoffending through a combination of client screening/assessment, case planning, containment team process, group process, and polygraph testing throughout each offender’s participation in the program.
Electronic Monitoring Services (EMS): PACT selects the monitoring company and maintains the contract for equipment. PACT provides the Porter County Home Detention program with the necessary equipment and access to technical support through the contracted company.
